I think one of the most unfortunate things about these Max Clifford/ Max Publicity events are the amount of people who get involved in the projected mass hysteria. No doubt once the woman has died there will be an acre of floral tributes and soft toys outside the crematory, which, once the hype has died down (intended pun) the council workers will scrape together and shovel into the compost skip

On the other hand, if the demise of La Goody does anything at all to awaken publice awareness to women's cancers and convince more young women to be tested then that will be surely a good thing, thus eventually saving the tax payer from having to cough up for cancer treatment. The same win/win effect could be achieved be getting lasses off alchohol and cigarettes, which would have the knock on benefit of improving their complexions thus alleviating the need for Saturday Night filler and war paint
